Following a good turnout at Bourton on Friday night (link to report), some of Juniors and Teens took part in the Wiltshire and Gloucestershire County Track and Field Championships in Swindon and at Blackridge Jubilee Track in Podsmead.
At the Wiltshire championships, only Aria competed, as a guest, but managed to get some good performances in her favourite events : hurdles, long jump and 100m. She came:
3rd in the 70m hurdles in 14.55s
3rd in the Long Jump in 3.91m, which is an EA PB Award Level 6 and regains her Club record from fellow Teen, Evie Mence. Needless to say it's a PB too.
5th in 100m in 14.73 which is also a PB Award Level 6 which is also a PB
So a good day for Aria, Well done.
At Gloucester, we had mainly boys competing:
Ben Clarke (15) , Ben Conway (14, second claim) and Ed Knight (11) in U17, U15 and U13 1500m, respectively;
Aria Stavrakakis (11) in 100m, Long Jump and 70m Hurdles;
Holly Stewart-Hodges (12) in 100 and 200m;
James Kalantzis (9) did both 80m and Long Jump, whereas Henry Thomas just did the latter.

Both Bens from the Teens had run the Bourton One Mile on Friday evening, so might have been expected to have been a little "leggy"; but it didn’t look that way as Ben Conway fought to the line, in the Under 15s, coming equal second, to a hundredth of a second, in 4:41.40 which is a PB for Ben, and is a Level 5 (out of 9) EA PB Award.
Ben Clarke (photo) ran well in the U17s coming fourth in 4:42.5 also a PB and a Level 2 PB Award.

Lastly in the 1500m races, Junior, Ed (photo) came third against older boys in the Under 13s in 5:19.50, which will be a PB and is, remarkably for someone in their first event, a Level 4 PB award. Well done, Ed.

We have some emerging sprint talent in the Club's Teens female members. And the weekend's weather was made for fast times!
I have posted about Aria's exploits before (indeed above too), but not about Holly (photo). She didn't join until March, but has shown some really "quick feet" in the sprints. Both she and Aria ran the 100m; both coming second in their respective heats, in 14.4s and 15.1s, respectively; so both qualifying for the final.

In the final, Holly came 2nd and Aria 5th both going quicker than their heats in 14.1 and 14.8 respectively. These are EA PB Awards Level 7 and 6, respectively.
Really well done, girls.
Aria also does long jump and hurdles (despite not having any training in latter - must resolve that soon!).
In the 70m hurdles we had another tie involving a Ciren runner as Aria came third equal in 15.2s which is somewhat outside her PB due to not having the best of luck turning her ankle at the start, resulting in a false start, and another runner hitting one of Aria's hurdles part way through.
In the Long Jump she managed to exactly match the performance from the day before, ie 3.91m. Consistent or what? This was good enough for second place. Well done Aria.
Holly also ran the longer spint race, 200m, winning her heat in 31.0s and then the final in 29.80. This is a EA PB Award level 6 and close to a 7, so well done Holly (photo).

Two of our Juniors did the short sprint, 80m, and the Long Jump. In the 80m James (top photo) came second in 12.9s, which is quick. Unfortunately, the EA have no U11 PB Awards but James' run approximates to a Level 2 75m performance.
Well done, James.
In the Long Jump, Henry (photo) came second wih a 3.5m jump; James came 9th with 2.92. Henry's jump is a Level 5 U13 PB Award, so really well done Henry.
All-in-all a really successful weekend for the Club's Juniors and Teens on the track.
NB the EA's PB Awards levels are not easy to achieve and we now have a group of young athletes achieving a really good standard. We haven't had a level 8 performance yet in the Club, so the weekend's performances are really excellent.
Author : Dorian, who was meant to compete but didn't and so missed seeing all these great performances in person.
