The swimmers kept the CROSS flag flying this week by jointly swimming another 15,430 m. This means we only have another 124.82 miles to go. The distance from Teddington Lock to Kemble was 151.8 miles so between them they have completed 27 miles – go – swimmers! For more details check https://www.cirencesterac.com/swimming-challenge .
In lockdown 2 we are only running – on road – every other week so, having had this week off we can all look forward to our favourite 5 km – no excuses – get out there.
Two other snippets:
I understand that the Committee have agreed not to organise our very popular Chedworth race in the spring of 2021. We will all miss the cakes and possibly the run too? But we are hoping to be able to run the Summer Sizzler as usual.
We have also just heard that Almost Athletes have reluctantly cancelled the Linda Franks Race for January 2021. Given that it starts and ends in residential streets, the Covid logistics defeated them but they are hoping to run it later in the year.
Finally you can’t keep the determined down – Martin Croucher has managed to find a 24 hour race taking place in a couple of weeks time. He has to run a mile at the start of each hour and enter the total time taken. It includes a fast mile, a fancy dress mile and, in Martin’s case he is planning to walk one of the miles. So if you fancy the challenge for staying up for 24 hours in order to run up and down roads near your house, Martin is the man to ask for details. Alternatively you might consider joining him (in a virtual sense only) by running a single mile at some point, I know he will appreciate your support.
Don’t forget – this coming week it is a road 5km – anytime any place – just send in your time to cirenacresults@gmail.com.
