Ollie survives the heat in Holland to produce a fine set of triathlon results

a busy, hot and successful bank-holiday week for Ciren runners. Hatfield Broad Oak 10km, road.

Bill Leggate continues his great run of results with a fine performance in Hatfield with a 1st in his age group and an overall fourth place out of 1300 runners.

Results 1st Chris Burgoyne (Springfield Striders RC) 32.48, 4 Bill Leggate 34.40, 1st V40. 1314 finished.

Weert, Holland, ETU European Triathlon Championships. Oliver Pritchard completed this challenging triathlon in a total time of 2:08.40 to finish 73rd overall and 11th in his age category. His time for the 1.5km swim was 24.32; the 40km bike 59.20 and the 10km run 40.49. Overall a strong performance in 25C when, in his words, “the race was about survival.”

Ollie prepares for Weert

Cleeve Cloud Cuckoo, nr Cheltenham, 5.5 miles trail. The ubiquitous Barbara Thomas once again braved this daunting hill on her annual quest to run one hundred races. Results.1st John Parker (Cheltenham & County Harriers) 35.45, 159 Barbara Thomas 1.10.13. 163 finished.

RunFestRun, Bowood House, nr Calne.

Half Marathon, 13.1 miles trail. Alex Chudley ran a solid race at this undulating and challenging trail half whilst Libby Butler completed an unplanned race and finished just two minutes outside her PB. Results 1st Gary Dunstone (Team Bath AC) 1.20.29, 51 Alex Chudley 1.38.31, 384 Elisabeth Butler 2.13.46. 590 finished.

10km, trail. Sophie Chudley finished well up front and was fifth lady on another challenging trail course. Results.1 Mark Higgs (Guildford & Godalming) 36.44

5km trail. To make it a true family event young Millie Chudley was a commendable 43rd on the 5km course. Results. 1st Charlie Osborne (Herne Hill Harriers) 18.23, 43 Millie Chudley 26.43. 792 finished.

parkruns, 5km trail. On a very warm morning twenty-five members ran at eight parkruns and turned in some solid results with a win for Olly Campbell at Chippenham, second for Daniel Winfield at Ciren, an age group second for junior Isobel Watt and PB’s for, at least, Ruth Fulford and Liza Darroch.
