New Club Record for Jo

With peak Spring marathon season just around the corner there was lots of 20 mile race action this weekend for those wanting to make those long training runs a bit more……..fun?

Saturday saw four club members at Berkeley for the Rogue Runs Fission 20, a two lap, country lane course. Jo Musk and Harrie Siebanaller are preparing for the Manchester marathon, whilst Kate Sackett and Brian Harris will be grinding out the miles in London.

Brian was first home and 3rd MV60 and reports being pleasantly surprised to dip under 2:30 with a bit less effort than last year and fairly even pacing. He felt it was good practice for London in 5 weeks time and a likely 10 points in the Glos AAA road race series was an added bonus.

Jo Musk, in training for her first marathon, was rightly delighted with her run. Her pace throughout was brilliantly consistent, and much quicker than her planned 8 minute miles. Her super impressive performance took an enormous 24 minutes off the previous club FV40 record. We can’t wait to see what she can do over 26.2 miles! Huge congratulations to Jo.

There were fine runs too from Harrie Siebenaller and Kate Sackett who was pleased with her time and a negative split. She took 3rd FV60 spot too.

The race was the second in the club road race championship and Brian has updated the tables. If you are interested in taking part in any of the remaining races, take a look at the News Feed post from 3rd February for full details.

Also covering the 20 mile distance this weekend were Chris Miller and Dave Musgrove who chose the Hullavington 20. They both had fantastic races and a friendly battle along the way. With just a minute and a bit between them they finished in 4th and 5th overall and were 1st and 2nd MV40. Chris is getting ready for another bash at the London marathon. Well done to both of them.
