Whilst lots of you are out training and/or just enjoying the countryside, we’re only aware of one member who has actually raced over the last fortnight {if you pretend parkrun isn’t a race ;-) }.
That distinction goes to Barbara Thomas, who on 19th August raced the Severn Bridge road 10km, finishing in 1.11.02, finishing 320/408.
There will be at least one race to report on next weekend – the Glos AA road series event at Cranham, with several members hoping to stay in contention for a medal at the end of the season, and others testing the water after injury time off.
{Whilst not actually a running event, it would be churlish not to congratulate our Chairman Luke Campbell on walking the entire length of the Thames Path, having quite a few advenures and ups and downs on the way. His activity time on Strava put him well clear in the lead on the club's triathlon-inclusive Strava group ;-)) }
23 August 2025, parkruns
On the parkrun circuit last weekend, Ollie Campbell was again our only winner, going very nearly a minute faster at Chippenham compared to Weston-super-mare the week before – congratulations!
Ollie wasn’t the only man under the 18-minute mark though – at Cirencester a returning to form Bill Leggate just nudged ahead of Rich Allen, who despite his Ironman PB a week earlier equalled his course PB, making it 5 runs in a row at Ciren within an impressively consistent 20-second range.
Kate Kilby had another great run, again posting the highest age-graded performance of the day, with Bill and Rich also 2nd/4thon that basis.
Steve Hale has definitely caught the parkrun bug, not missing a week for the last 13, during which he has clocked 7 course PB’s including his best time at Stroud.
At the new course in Fordingbridge, David Wright took 14 seconds off his first run there the previous week to exceed 85% age-graded, 2nd only to an LV60 with >90%!

30 August 2025 parkruns
This weekend saw a larger contingent than usual at our home course, where the going was a bit sticky in places (so Pam tells me).
Much better than any times or milestones was the return to the (Cirencester) parkrun scene of both Clare Tapley (run/walking) and Alan Macadam after respective health issues – great to see you both back!
Apart from a bit of a gap between our sole under-18, Bella Stickney JW15-17 and the rest, we were also represented in every age category from V45 to V75.
Gary Wood, who has recently altered his training slightly, managed to run his best parkrun time in more than 2 years – great to see.
Kate Kilby was also on good form again (best age-graded) and Bill Leggate came 2nd despite a slower time than his 4th place the week before. Originally intending to run (slower!) with his son, the lack of a proper warm up affected his pace on the solo run (Ed. - oh to be disappointed with only 18.16).
Over at Tetbury it looks like the super consistent (last 12runs all in 23.xx) Paul Timms may have helped Steve Hale to knock more than a minute off his Tetbury course best – great work both of you.
A shout out too for Ian Barratt who manages to regularly finish around the top 5 despite a reasonable distance cycle ride to/from the parkrun course.
Finally, whilst parkrun do publish various stats for all to see, if you have any other parkrun related news or stories that you think members might like to see/read, do please send them in!
