The third Sportshall event was completed in mid-December (14th), but the results were a little late getting to me. We had only one Under 11 : Henry Thomas and the two usual U13 girls : Aria Stavrakakis and Katie Leicester.

Again they were all well supported by Aria's mum, Fritha.

Henry did three individual events :

  • speed bounce,

  • vertical jump and

  • javelin (indoor type!)

and scored highly in all of them.

He also was part of a composite team doing a 2x2 obstacles relay (photo right).

Aria and Katie also did Speed Bounce, Vertical Jump, plus a 2 lap time trial this time.

Both girls qualified for the overall Sportshall championship as they compted in all three events. Katie came 17th with some good performances, especially the throwing events : shot, chest push, and vertical jump.

Aria qualified for the Gloucestershire team, due to coming fifth overall, based on some top ten performances in the standing jumps : vertical, long and triple; two lap time trials and chest push. Well done, girls and it's good to see all the jumps and throws training working.

If these events interested your Junior or Teen please let me know and we'll include them in the Teams later this year.

None of our Juniors and Teens would have been able to participate in any of the three Sportshall competitions without the leadership and support of Fritha Stavrakakis; so many thanks, Fritha.
