Four members of the Teens Group participated in events at the Brewer Memorial Games on Bank Holiday Monday, at Blackridge Jubilee Athletics Track, Gloucester :
siblings Ben (2nd claim) and Toby Conway took on shorter races than usual, both in the 800m;
Aria Stavrakakis [photo] in the U13 Quadkids,
and coach, Dorian Matts in 300m, Triple Jump and 200m.

Although sunny, there was a strong head wind in the home straight that increased during the day. Aria’s four events were spread out across the whole afternoon: 100m, long jump, howler throw and 800m.
Both Toby (13), [photo] and Ben (14) set PBs: 2:45.65 and 2:26.28, coming third and second, respectively, in their separate heats.
Well done boys.

Aria had performed well and consistently (especially in the long jump) :
15.55 for 100m was just outside her PB but was into a headwind,
her Long Jumps were both 3.5m+,
a 21m+ howler throw, over 50% beyond her previous HT PB and
a sub-3 minute 800m, also for a PB. [photo]
All these great performances led to a 5th place finish for Aria.
PBS were obviously the order of the day, with Dorian taking another half second off his 300m PB, and jumping 2 foot further than his previous triple jump PB with his opening jump. In fact, he was so close to the sand, he decided not risk potentially jumping further and injuring himself on the edge of the sandpit. His 200m was a bit more humbling though! Perhaps he was tired.
