New Track and Field Records - Part I

Hi all, as we're in the Track and Field season proper now, I'm probably going to be posting about his subject fairly regularly, and hopefully it will include adult records as much as the younger members. Certainly this first update does.

The first T&F meeting involving members was the Mark Cawte memorial at Swindon on 14th April, where "youngster" (well, compared to me!), James Widdowson, set an inaugural MV50 Mile record with an impressive 6:18.85. As James says, "Never thought my name would ever be used in conjunction with ‘mile record’ so I’m very very happy that it has!", so if you fancy having a go there are plenty of open track meetings in the summer. I will share when and where they are on the News Feed, so keep an eye out.

At the Horspath track on 29th April, I managed to nudge my own MV60 Long Jump record over 3m with one good jump, amongst three other fouls, albeit two by only a centimetre, so I am improving! NB _ still awaiting organisers to get it on Power of 10!

More impressively, Aria Stavrakakis has taken to track and field in a big way (see blog), and in doing so has set Under-13 female records at 70m Hurdles, 100m, 200m, 800m and Long Jump, the latter she has improved twice.
