Martin Croucher lined up with tens of thousands of others, including Sir Mo Farah in his final professional race, at the Great North Run last Sunday.
Martin enjoyed the familiar course and great crowd support. He adjusted his goal and tactics a few miles in as the warm and humid conditions took hold of everyone.
It was a long day as torrential rain hit soon after the race causing the Metro to be closed due to flooding and leaving thousands of runners and supporters drenched and queuing for the ferry instead.
Martin is looking forward to another "nice, easy" marathon in a few weeks time!

Our own Chedworth Roman Trail race took place on Sunday. Just a handful of CAC runners took part, with a team of club volunteers headed up by Tom Purnell, in his first foray into the world of the Race Director, bringing the event together.
He was supported by James and Liz getting involved in race admin, Rupert, Tim and Oscar doing the very important course set up and dismantling and, of course, Jo, Liza, Lara, Linda and David maintaining the standards when it comes to tea and cake sales. A team of marshals covered the course and Jos Randall took on the tail runner role and enjoyed talking the last finisher, an inspiring 75 year old lady who only took up running after her husband died and was determined to finish.
There were challenges on the day with the humid conditions and a swarm of angry hornets near the start line!
Another superb run from Kate Jacobs as she finished 1st lady and 7th overall. Then not much between Tom Payne, Natasha Pauck and Andy Hindson.
Well done to all involved.

And finally……. Kate Sackett reports that she, Jo Roberts and Lara Tompson, together with a Dursley Running Club friend Mel, completed the end of season relay triathlon at Lake 62 on Saturday. All four members of the team do each discipline, a 300 metre swim, a 5 mile bike ride and a 1 mile run.
This was a first taste of triathlon for both Jo and Lara with Jo not having swum for a while and Lara similarly a little out of her comfort zone on a bike. Kate reports that they showed no fear and rocked around the course sporting their CAC tri gear! We would expect nothing less! Looks like a fun time was had by all.
