Hi all,
Now we have had the Summer Sizzler, here's an update of the schedule for Juniors training during the summer. I have also included some information on what we will be doing with the Juniors and why.

Next Sessions
When we return to the Deer Park sessions on 18th June, we'll begin a 6-week mesocycle (coach's word for a short term plan!) that will take us up to when we have a summer break. During that time we will try and get more of the Quadkids events done and recorded (sprint, endurance, jump and throw) so that the children have some structure to their activities and have a fun competition.
What the training comprises
What we are doing with the Juniors is based on the England Athletics principle of Run, Jump and Throw, so the children get an all round development. We're using the Quadkids events for measuring their performance in the fouur types of events, but we will also do other related activities, e.g. the Quadkids jump event is the Standing Long Jump, bit we'll aslo get them practicising run-ups and doing "normal" long jumps. To help with that we have acquired some new 'jump tiles'. Hopefully the four events will give children the opportunity to find out what they are good at, and help us develop future sessions to focus on areas that need strengthening for the Groups.
NB The four Quadkids' events are:
75m sprint
600m run
(Vortex) Howler Throw
Standing Long Jump
