The 4th race in this year's club’s road series was held last night - a straight and level 1 mile dash on a beautiful Spring evening, finishing in the middle of Bourton village. 7 of our 10 senior runners made it for a pre-race photo.
Race medals were presented by David Moorcroft, who also ran the mile, although somewhat slower than in his prime.
Unfortunately for our ladies there were no team prizes, but six of our senior runners picked up individual age group county medals :-
Ian Barrett first man home for the club in 5:20, in his first mile race for 5 years.
Jo Musk first lady home in her first mile race ever, just a couple of seconds behind her age-group leaders in 5:54.
Charlotte Wilton, despite not feeling fully recovered from her London Marathon, took silver in LV45
Gordon Jones, a veteran of this event, just sneaked under 7 minutes chip time to win his MV70
Kate Kilby was just a few seconds behind Gordon, bagging gold at LV60, and
Ruth Fulford, nursing a heavily strapped knee, finished in good form to win LV75
No bling on this occasion for David Moss, Brian Harris, Wendy Jones or Rachel Ranger, but some respectable times and further points for the club championship standings which now look like this (full details on the website).
1 | Brian | Harris |
2 | David | Moss |
3 | Andy | Fellows |
4 | Michael | Hobbs |
5 | David | Wright |
6 | Gordon | Jones |
1 | Jo | Musk |
2 | Charlotte | Wilton |
3 | Rachel | Ranger |
4 | Kate | Kilby |
5 | Ruth | Fulford |
6 | Kate | Jacobs |
Next races in the series are the Stroud Beer Race (wait list only now) and shortly after that the Fairford 10k. And finally, if you haven’t yet raced this year don’t worry there is still time to compete - there are still 7 events left plus any marathon, and it is only the best 6 to count, so do join in.
