Teen Development & Achievement Award
Each year, the club coaches will present one child with the Teen Development & Achievement Award, recognising them for their commitment to:
~
Along with fun & enjoyment, the basis of progressing in Athletics for Teens is attending training sessions and challenging themselves through competition and as such, through the use of performance metrics, the club can better challenge and provide training if they understand how the teens are progressing in Strength, Mindset and Events. Hence the addition of the Performance Element from 2025.
Teen metrics are recorded either at 'Club events' or training sessions on the track and the field, such as vertical jumps. From this, the coaches are able to determine the effectiveness of how the sessions are at developing the teen’s capability, and enables adjustments to be made in the session design if required. The metrics also allow the club to better communicate the rationale and benefit of say strength and conditioning exercises to the teens and to help determine when teens should progress through which groups: Seahawks to Lions to Vikings then onto Giants/Titans
Further detail around how the four elements of the assessment are scored, can be found here - Teen Performance Monitoring & Assessment Scoring
The measurements are great for the Club to see improvement, but going forward, the intention is that we share those with parents & their teen periodically, as when measures are repeated they will allow you to understand the progress being made and therefore motivate to keep improving.
