Shakespeare Half Success for Dave

Dave Bell had another superb run on Sunday, taking in the historic streets of Stratford upon Avon and the Warwickshire countryside in the Shakespeare Half Marathon. His 1:14:24 finish gave him a really well earned third place overall.

Dave described it as tough going, with a hard hill at 8 miles and a strong headwind in the last 3 to 4 miles. So, whilst he was initially slightly disappointed not to finish in a sub 73 minute time, he was pleased with sub 75 minutes in the conditions on the day.

His impressive result comes just three weeks after an equally strong performance in the Reading Half.

24th April, Shakespeare Half Marathon, 13.1 miles road

1 Orlando Corea (Birchfield Harriers) 1.12.13 (1.12.13)

3 Dave Bell (Cirencester AC) 1.14.24 (1.14.24)

1173 finished

At parkrun this weekend there was a good club turnout at Cirencester where Brecht Grieten continued his great string of recent results with a new best time for the course to take 1st place. Simon Campbell was close on his heels in 2nd and Wendy Nicholls was 2nd lady. The club was also really well represented amongst the volunteers.

James and Liz Thomas made the most of babysitting grandparents and both had a run at Evesham. James took 1st place and made it a hat trick of parkrun victories after wins at Seven Fields and Cirencester in the last two weeks. Liz was pleased to finish 5th lady.

At Tetbury, parkrunners were treated to the more challenging Route A this week but that didn’t frighten off Rachel and Alan Mcadam. Nea Sneddon-Jenkins enjoyed the change and was 1st lady once again.

Others were further afield, including Paul Timms in Milan.
