This week Ann 'aqualthlon' Sherrington was competing again, this time internationally for the Women's GB squad in the European Multisport Championships in Coimbra, Portugal in the 60-64 sprint Aquathlon. She says......This was my 1st international event and I came 14 out of 17 with a 1k swim time of 19.46 and a 5k run time of 27.59 which I was really pleased with. The swim was in the Mondego river and the run was 2 laps crossing over bridges and through parks- so a beautiful route. It was great experience and I learnt loads from the other Aquathletes including Peggy aged 80 who has done these races for over 20 years! I’m really keen to have another go in 2025 so am now focused on qualifying for that.
What an amazing achievement and good luck for the qualifiers, keep us updated Ann!
Elsewhere, Brecht was running Greystones 10km, nr Bourton, finishing the trail race in 39.26.
Jos Randall was at the Westonbirt Half Marathon, 13.1 miles trail, and finished in 2.01.14
Ollie Campbell took on the Breakheart Backyard Ultra, Dursley 4mile trail circuit (which involves completing one circuit per hour until you time out)! The route was all on trail and had 160m of elevation and Ollie went through a few ups and downs mentally and physically and finally timed out at 3am after 18 laps, a total of 120k in a time of 13.31.45. What an epic effort, well done Ollie! And a shoutout to the support crew who "had to see him every 45minutes" The evential winner completed 26 laps.
