Country Lanes, a City Park and County Success

David Wright took on the undulating country lanes of the AVR Wiltshire Half Marathon on Sunday. His impressive 1:27:14 finish saw him home in 28th position overall and 1st in his V60 age group. Another great performance.

Brian Harris enjoyed a rare opportunity to test his 5k pace in something other than a parkrun. He took time out from parental painting and decorating duties to take part in an event on flat tarmac in Battersea Park. Brian was pleased with his 20:12 finish, well over a minute inside his best parkrun result.

parkrun enthusiasts had to work hard to find a local event not affected by Saturday morning’s wintery weather. With the wind and snow taking their toll at Cirencester and Tetbury, Alan and Rachel Mcadam travelled to Chippenham where Ollie Campbell took first place by a margin of just two seconds.

In other news, the club did well in the Gloucestershire AAA 2021 County Road Race Series. Congratulations to Age Group winners Kate Sackett, V60 and Barbara Thomas, V65. Ruth Fulford and Liza Darroch took second and third places respectively in the Ladies V70 category. Tony Shelbourn was third in the Mens V75 age group as was Rachel Barrow in the Ladies V50.
