Cirencester Athletics and Triathlon Club 20th October 2019

Mark Sysum led the way in this week’s marathons completing the flat but circuitous Abingdon course in 2.58. His long held “Project 2.59” was convincingly achieved although it did involve digging deep for the last 6 miles and finishing with an impressively fast final mile. Nick Wall went to Amsterdam and his time of 3.58 smashed nearly 8 minutes from the Club’s MV60 record set by Rupert Chesmore at Chester last year and came as a major triumph after the setbacks he has endured in earlier London marathon attempts. Meanwhile both Rupert (with Offas Dyke 187 miles still in his legs) and Liza Darrroch both struggled for the last few miles at York where Liza had been invited to the UK Championships again but this time was convincingly outrun in the FV70 group. She still managed to come 1st in the UK Masters though bagging herself one gold medal. Meanwhile Colin & Clare Tapley celebrated their wedding anniversary in style with a hilly half marathon in the idyllic setting of the Lake District.
