Birthday parkrunning and Ben's Happiest Day Ever

First this week, news from Dorian of a great result for one of our talented juniors.

Ben Conway, who trains with the Teens Group, followed up his good performance in the Cirencester Park Cross Country U13s race with a 3rd place finish in the 3km Gloucestershire Schools Athletics Association Cross Country trials for Year 7 boys on Sunday.

Consequently, he has been selected to represent Gloucestershire in the South West Regional Championships at Blaise Castle on 4th February.

Ben’s mum reports that he really enjoyed the race, saying “Sunday was the happiest day of his life!” She has asked Dorian to create a training plan for Ben in order to help to maximise his chances in February which, of course, Dorian is more than happy to do.

Good luck Ben. We look forward to hearing about your future races.

In an update to last week's news report, Wendy Nicholls' excellent result at the Eynsham 10k was good enough to shave a few seconds from the previous FV50 10k record held by Sarah Gunn. Wendy now holds the 10k record at every age group from Senior to FV50 and she is promising more next year! Congratulations Wendy.

Meanwhile, in parkrun news this week, there were birthday celebrations and plenty of age group wins.

At Stonehouse Kate Sackett was 1st lady, and at Marlborough Common David Moss ran a new best for that particular course.

There was a great club turnout at Cirencester where Wendy Nicholls was 1st lady. There were age group wins for Gordon Jones, MV70, Pam Wheeler, FV65, and Ruth Fulford, FV75.

Rachel McAdam was also first in her new age category on the very day that she celebrated her 60th birthday. Her festivities started with a family parkrun with the whole clan. Well how else would the McAdams start a birthday weekend?
