Kate Sackett’s fine form continued on Sunday when she was yet again in triathlon action, this time at the Cotswold Classic Middle Distance event.
The race HQ was at Lake 32 and saw competitors head out for a 1.2 mile swim, 56 miles on a bike and finally a 13.1 mile run.
Kate was rightly thrilled with her performance and result and summed it up like this “I did the Cotswold Classic Middle Distance triathlon at Lake 32. 5:47 overall time which was a PB for me I think. Conditions were pretty perfect and there were no disasters. I’ve run a lot faster in previous years but never biked as fast. Overall 268 out of 517 that finished but 1st in FV60-64 age group. I was well happy!”
A great result for Kate.

On Saturday Gareth James took on the hilly, two lap course at Ludlow 10k. He summed it up as “ran hard, legs burned, got to the end.” He also ran it 6 minutes faster than last year! Excellent.

In parkrun news this week, Brendan McCarthy joined the crowds at Bushy, the home of parkrun. Following a cracking run at Frampton 10k earlier in the week, Ruth Fulford put in a performance at Thornbury parkrun worthy of an 80.92% age grading.
At Cirencester there were top ten finishes for Dave Musgrove and Ian Barrett and just a second between them. Howard Ewan ran an impressive 21.42 pushing a junior Ewan in a buggy. And a splendid new PB for Lorna Harris using her excellent strategy of “trying a bit harder”…….
